MG Motor India Inaugurates Agra's First-Ever Superfast 60 kW EV Charger - All Details

Though the EV infrastructure in India is still in its nascent stage, the Electric Vehicles have started becoming very popular in the country. The first mass-market EV with a good driving range in India was the Hyundai Kona EV and it was followed by the MG ZS EV. The MG ZS EV was the second car from MG in India and it has been performing really good. MG has been continuously also working to improve the EV infrastructure of the country. Continuing the same trend, MG Motor India has now recently inaugurated Agra's first-ever superfast 60 kW EV charger in partnership with Tata Power.

Morris Garages India recently participated in the Government's first-ever EV trial run that was conducted between two North Indian cities. The trial run of the EVs was conducted between the capital city New Delhi and Agra. This tech trial run was flagged off by MG India and some special dignitaries of the Indian Government from India Gate in New Delhi on November 25, 2020, and the ZS EV reached Agra on the same day and that too in a single charge. In line with the government's motive of boosting electric mobility in the country and introducing more electric vehicles on the public roads, this special #NHforEV2020 tech trial run was conducted to assess the feasibility of the Yamuna Expressway with regards to transit by EVs.

The Indian Government as well as the automobile manufacturers want to strengthen the charging infrastructure on the popular transit routes of the country. Now, coming to the inauguration part of the superfast EV charger. So, the inauguration of the fast-charger at Agra has come as an extension of the tech trial Run that was conducted between Delhi to Agra. The convoy of the MG ZS electric SUVs reached Agra on the same day covering a distance of around 250 kilometres. Then, MG Motor India inaugurated Agra's first-ever 60 kW Superfast EV charger at MG's Agra dealership in partnership with Tata Power. The company has said that this fast public charger will be functional 24x7 and it comes with CCS/CHAdeMO fast-charging standards.

With the help of this fast charger, the new MG ZS EV can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes and thus people in North India can easily do inter-city commutes without any sort of range anxiety. Speaking on this occasion, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India said, "The launch of the EV trial run from Delhi to Agra by the Government of India is a strong step towards the adoption of EVs in our country. With the culmination of the trial run taking place at MG Agra Dealership, where we today also inaugurated a fast-charging station in partnership with Tata Power, citizens here will be able to access the public charging facility. We are also actively forging partnerships with key charging enablers such as Tata Power and Exicom to further expand the EV ecosystem across the nation."
